Event Overview

• Purpose: The 2nd Annual Kristen's Krew 5K is part of a full weekend of exciting events honoring Kristen McCartney and her perseverance - and raising money for the Kristen McCartney Perseverance Scholarship.
• Background: Kristen McCartney was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, who passed away in 2021 and had a form of epilepsy that was not fully controlled by medication.
• Scholarship: The scholarship supports female students from North Carolina, recognizing passion and perseverance to fuel their education.
• Application Criteria: Eligible applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and volunteer or non-profit experience.

• Date: Saturday, May 15th, 2027
• Start Time: 5K run/walk starts at 9am ET
• Location: Harris Road Middle School, Concord, NC
• Course: A 5K walk/run along the greenway in the Moss Creek community, near Harris Road Middle School.

Who Can Participate?

• Open to All: EVERYONE! The 5K is open to the public.
• Community Spirit: We welcome all to celebrate the spirit of perseverance.
• Fun for Everyone: A community-wide celebration with a lot of fun awaits.
• All Paces Welcome: We encourage participants at all fitness levels.

Course Information

• Course Type: The majority of our course runs along the Moss Creek segment of the Hector Henry Greenway.
• Start/Finish: The 5K will start and finish at the Harris Road Middle School.
• Surface: The course features a paved surface and crosses wetland areas along the Rocky River.
• Comfortable Pace: Runners/walkers can move at their own pace along the greenway and surrounding streets.

Time Limit

• No Time Limit: There is no time limit for the event.
• All Paces Welcome: We genuinely welcome all paces.
