Miles for Medicine is a 5K run/walk and kids fun run fundraiser event hosted by MSU Student National Medical Associations (at the College of Human Medicine & the College of Osteopathic Medicine) and MSU Spartan Street Medicine that will serve to uplift both the greater Lansing community and vulnerable populations.

About SNMA

The Student National Medical Association (SNMA) is a national organization of over 6,000 medical students nationwide who are committed to addressing the needs of underserved communities and becoming clinically excellent physician-advocates.

About SSM

Spartan Street Medicine (SSM) is an organization comprised of medical students and physicians united under a commitment to quality healthcare for all. The program provides medical care and health education to people experiencing homelessness in Ingham County in the form of pop-up clinics and outreach trips.

Our Belief

At SNMA & SSM, we believe that healthcare should be a human right accessible by all, not a privilege.

Fundraising Impact

This race and donations will:

• Help medical students: Make a difference locally, regionally, and nationally.
• Improve community health: Helps the community improve their health one step at a time.
• Provide support: Direct support for Care Free Medical Center and race day.
• Support research: Support fibroid research and awareness at The White Dress Project non-profit organization.

• Enhance SSM capabilities: Improve SSM's ability to assess and address the needs of the Greater Lansing community.
• Medical supplies: For blood pressure and glucose screenings.
• Distribute essentials: Food and clothing at Green Bag Packing monthly events.
• Support conferences: Support the SNMA CHM Annual Pre-Medical Pathways Conference and the SNMA COM OsteoMAPS Conference.

Event Details

Come out and enjoy with family, fun for all ages, free health screenings, music, games, and more, while making healthcare more accessible for everyone in our community.

Pricing

5k run/walk $30 until 8/30. $35 from 8/31 to 9/6. $40 from 9/7 to 9/19. Kids $20. No virtual run this year.

Race Swag

Participants registered by September 6th will receive an exclusive race t-shirt. Shirts are limited in sizes after that date and will be available until they are sold out. Shirts will be available in youth and adult sizes.

Course

The event will start and finish at Conrad Hall. See the Course Map section along the top of the page. The fun run will be an out and back race.

Awards

Overall 5K run/walk winners will be recognized. All fun run participants will receive a finisher medal.

Packet Pickup

Race day morning starting at 7:30 am at the race start/finish area (behind Conrad Hall).

Results

Results will be live and texted to you upon completion of the race. The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.

Proceeds

All donations and a portion of race proceeds will benefit:

• Care Free Medical Clinic: Located in Lansing.
• The White Dress Project: Non-profit organization that promotes fibroids awareness and research.
• Spartan Street Medicine: Focused on providing healthcare to underserved populations.
• MSU SNMA Conferences: Pathways & OsteoMAPS conferences.
