🏃♂️ Event Overview
LIONS on the Leon Captain "D" Dash for Sight 5K Fun Run/Walk is coming up Saturday, October 4th, hosted by the Belton Lions Club! Check out the photos from 2024 on facebook: Lions on the Leon-Wacky Boat Race/Picnic in the Park! Fun Run/Walk map is posted in photos.
The run/walk will begin at 8:30am, starting at the parking lot by the soccer fields, proceeding down Park Avenue, then circling through the neighborhood, returning along Park Avenue back to the Heritage Park parking lot.
⏱️ Race Details
- Event Type: Not a timed event, very close to a 5K (3.11 miles)
- Timing: Unable to be included in the timed race series due to two existing races in October
- Self-Timing: Participants may be able to time themselves through Run Sign-up
- Award Categories: Adult Male & Female - 1st, 2nd, 3rd
- Younger Participants: 11 & under Male & Female - 1st, 2nd, 3rd
- Costume Award: 1st, 2nd, 3rd - Come in Pirate Costume to compete for an award!
- Participant Perks: Each registered participant receives a custom commemorative spinner Race Medal & event "Sunglasses"
👕 Registration Information
- Event T-Shirt: Guaranteed if registered by September 5th
- Registration Fees: $30.00 for adults if pre-registered: Children age 6 and under are free when accompanied by a registered adult
- Discounted Registration: $20.00 for students aged 16 and under
- On-Site Registration: $35.00 for adults / $25.00 for students (16 and under)
🎉 Post-Race Activities
The 5K is the kick-off event for the LIONS on the LEON. The Fun Run/Walk will end at Picnic in the Park, where you can enjoy:
- Live Music: Jay White and the Blues Commanders
- Food: Hot dog and sausage wrap concessions
- Activities: Artisan and craft vendors, pumpkin decorating, face painting, Quacky duck pond, carnival games, raffle/auction, and the Wacky Open and Cardboard Boat Race on the Leon River
- Judging and Heats: People's Choice boat judging begins at 11am. Race heats start at 1:00pm
🌧️ Weather and Refund Policy
The event will be held rain or shine. No Refunds.
📅 Important Dates
Online Registration opens Monday, July 21st and ends Wednesday, October 1st. Run/Walk day registration from 7:00am - 8:00am in the Parking lot by the soccer fields.
