- West Virginia Native: Jerry was a native West Virginian, and prior to his FBI career, Jerry was attached to the West Virginia State Police as an attorney advisor.
- Dedication: The race is dedicated to the memory of SA Jerry Dove and all law enforcement, firefighters, military personnel, and others who were killed while serving in the line of duty.
- Sponsorship: The race is sponsored by the FBI CJIS Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
