Race Overview

The Amway River Bank Run, presented by Fifth Third Bank with Corewell Health as the Official Health Partner, is held every year in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan on the second Saturday of May.

Event Details

• Date: May 9, 2026
• Location: Ottawa Avenue and Lyon Street (Start Line), Grand Rapids, MI
• Participation: Largest 25K road race in the country
• Events: USA 25 km Open Championships, 25K Handcycle, 25K Wheelchair, 10K Run, 5K Run, and 5K Community Walk

Virtual Events

• Flexibility: Complete your chosen distance between May 1 and May 31
• Distances: 25K, 10K, 5K, or 5K walk
• Commemorative Swag: High-quality race shirts, premium medals, and a virtual race bib
• Extended Finishing Times: Unlike in-person course cutoffs

Race History

• Inception: The first annual Old Kent River Bank Run was held in 1978 with just over 1,000 runners
• Ownership Change: Renamed after Old Kent Bank merged with Fifth Third Bank in 2001
• Current Ownership: Transitioned to Riverbank Events and Media in 2018
• Title Sponsorship: Amway became the title sponsor in 2019, renaming the event to Amway River Bank Run
