Anxiety can feel like running with a weight on your chest. Every breath feels tight and every step feels heavy. But movement can be a turning point. Imagine stepping outside, feeling the cool air on your face, and letting each stride release a bit of the tension you have been carrying. This race is your reminder that you are not alone, that your health matters, and that taking even one step can begin to lighten the load.
Student anxiety has become one of the most pressing mental health issues today. According to the American College Health Association, more than 60 percent of college students reported experiencing overwhelming anxiety in the past year (ACHA). This rise has affected motivation, sleep and concentration along with overall well being. Mental health experts agree that regular physical activity can reduce symptoms of anxiety. The Mayo Clinic explains that exercise releases endorphins, improves mood and acts as a natural stress reliever ("Exercise and Stress").
Central Message: When anxiety rises, movement can help you rise above it.
By taking part in the Run for Relief 5K, you are speaking up for student mental health, supporting yourself and encouraging others to do the same. Lace up, take a deep breath and let this run remind you of your strength.
You got this. Run for clarity. Run for calm. Run for relief.
