About this race
Race Overview
Come celebrate FESTIVUS with the rest of us while completing an awesome 5k course.
We are back for the 6th year. We look forward to making the experience even better this year.
All proceeds go directly to the New Florence Volunteer Fire Company.

Packet Pickup
Packet pickup will be at the New Florence Fire Hall morning of the race starting at 9am (possibly a little earlier).
Registration will close at 9:50 am to allow Smiley Miles Timing to put names into the system without delaying the start of the race for those who register on the day of.
Pricing
- Early Bird Rate: $20 until November 15th at 6pm
- Standard Rate: $25 until registration closes
- Race Day Rate: $30 day of race (cash or check only)
- Children 10 and Under: Free until registration closes: $10 day of. T-shirts must be purchased separately.
Awards
Top 3 M & F overall, top 3 in each age group for the run: 10 and under, 11-14,15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
Top 3 M & F for Walk. Age groups match the run categories. No duplicates: awards will not be mailed.
Schedule of Events
- 9:00 AM: Registration opens (possibly earlier)
- 9:50 AM: Registration closes
- 10:00 AM: Race starts
- 11:05 AM: Race ends: must be across mats by this time to be included in results

What's Included
Custom race bib, custom race sticker, chip timing with results posted online, snacks after the race, and multiple photo opportunities.
Race Route
The race starts in front of the former New Florence ambulance garage beside the fire hall. Participants will run a course featuring scenic areas including the Laurel Hill Iron Furnace.
The course has a net gain in the first half and a net decline in the second half, totaling exactly 3.10 miles.
Rules
- Adult Supervision: At least one adult must be present for child registrants.
- Unsupervised Children: Unsupervised children will not be allowed to participate.
- Pets: Pets are welcome but must be on a leash and under control at all times.
- Awards: Must be present to receive: we do not mail awards.
Parking
Parking is available at the New Florence Fire Hall and New Florence Playground. Do not park in business lots or block driveways.
Participant Shirt Policy
A Festivus-themed shirt is available for $10, but the deadline for ordering is November 15th at 6pm. Shirts must be picked up on race day.
Results
Results will be posted online after the race at www.smileymiles.com. Please be patient as it may take up to 24 hours for results to be fully posted.
Refunds/Cancellations
No refunds, cancellations, or transfers are offered. The event will continue unless a state of emergency is declared.
Timing
The race will use chip timing to ensure accurate results.
Food/Liquids
Water will be provided at the course and snacks will be available post-race.
Miscellaneous Info
Bathrooms will be accessible inside the fire hall. Photo opportunities will be available at the finish line and along the course.
