7th Annual Heroes on the Run

Street Dog Hero’s biggest community event of the year is back.
Heroes on the Run is part of Heroes & Hounds — a full-day celebration in Bend’s Old Mill District featuring our 5K, 10K, and Kids Mini-Run in the morning, followed by the Hungry Hound Doggolympics, food, drinks, vendors, and adoptable dogs in the afternoon.
Run in the morning. Stay for the fun. Help dogs around the world and right here at home.
Every registration fuels rescue, medical care, and spay/neuter clinics around the world and right here at home.
The Run
- Choose your distance: 5K, 10K, or Kids Mini-Run.
- Pets allowed: Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome — bring your PAWticipant.
- Course details: Both races are professionally timed, running along the Deschutes River on a mix of pavement and compacted gravel with minimal elevation gain.
- Incentives: Every registered runner receives a custom finisher medal and complimentary beer (21+) to celebrate. Race shirts and pawticipant bandanas are available as optional add-ons during registration. Top finishers head to our Prize Table to choose their own prizes!
Stay for Doggolympics
- Live show: Enjoy a live frisbee show by JD Platt & The K9 Kings.
- Dogg Olympics events: Hungry Hound Doggolympics on the lawn at Greg’s Grill featuring obstacle agility, high jump, 50-yard sprint, and a best trick competition.
- Participation: Dogs can compete or just come hang out — sign your pup up to participate, or grab a drink and cheer them on.
- All dogs welcome: All friendly dogs are welcome.
