Join us for the 1st Annual Walk 4 PICS 5k! All runners and walkers are welcome! Our mission is to raise awareness of Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS) and bring together a community of ICU survivors, family members, medical providers, and supporters. Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, your participation helps support ICU survivors and their families.
PICS refers to the physical, cognitive and emotional challenges that ICU survivors and their families often face long-term after critical illness. Around 80% of the 5 million people admitted to an ICU each year in the United States survive, and of those survivors, at least one-third are afflicted with PICS. PICS can impact survivors’ entire lives, including their employment, relationships, and families, in addition to their physical and mental health. Learn more at ICUdelirium.org or at Walk4PICS.com. Any funds raised from the Walk 4 PICS 5k will be used to further the mission of raising awareness of PICS and supporting ICU survivors locally and globally through support groups, advocacy and education, and further research into best practices in critical care survivorship.
