🏃‍♂️ Event Details

• Description: Join us for an early morning annual Memorial Day weekend run or walk in memory of Scott Procopio who was killed in action 17 years ago in Ramadi, Iraq.
• Distance Options: 5K, 10K, 1 Mile Walk and a Kids Fun Run.
• Fundraising: Each of the last 6 years this event has continued to raise more than $25K that is allocated to High School seniors furthering their education.
• Location: Saugus Town Hall, Saugus MA (298 Central St)

💲 Race Fees

• Standard Fee: $20 through 12/31
• Late Fee: $25 through 2/28, $30 through 4/30, $35 through 5/22 at 8PM
• Race Day Fee: $45
• Youth Fee: $20 for ages 15 & Under through 5/22, $25 on race day (Same for both 5K/10K)

🗓️ Packet Pickup

• Opening Time: Opens at 6:45AM at Saugus Center in front of the Town Hall.
• Availability: Packet pickup is on race day ONLY.

🏞️ Course Information

• Available Courses: Choose from a 5K, 10K or 1 Mile Walk.
• Course Terrain: The 5K and 10K courses are a mix of flat and rollers with one good size climb.
• Intersections: All distances start at the same time, intersect and split at different points, with all fuel stops having water and electrolytes.
• Strollers & Dogs: Strollers and dogs are welcome.

👶 Kids Fun Run

• Distance: This 1/4 mile Kids Fun Run is for kids 10 and under starting at 7:50 am.
• T-Shirt Guarantee: Pre-registered kids will be guaranteed a t-shirt.
• Course: Their run will circle the shutdown rotary and will finish under the High5EM finish archway on Taylor St.
• Participation: If your child is 10 & under and wishes to participate in the 5K or 10K and do the Kids Fun Run, please sign he/she up in the 5K/10K.

🏅 Swag & Awards

• Participant Swag: Participants will receive custom designed race bibs and finisher medals.
• T-Shirts: Shirts will be guaranteed to those pre-registered by 5/10.
• Awards: Overall Top 3 M/F – Cash Prizes recognized at 8:30AM and 9AM respectively.
• Age Group Awards: 1st, 2nd and 3rd M/F in each age group: Under 15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.

💰 Cash Prizes

• 10K Cash Prizes: Top M/F: $150, 2nd place M/F: $100, 3rd place M/F: $50.
• 5K Cash Prizes: Top M/F: $100, 2nd place M/F: $50, 3rd place M/F: $25.

🎉 Post Race Festivities

• Sponsors & Vendors: There will be a variety of community sponsors and vendors setup in front of the Saugus Town Hall.
• Food Options: Essex Landing will be on site providing hot dogs for all participants and other food/drink will be available.
• Entertainment: Evolvement Radio will provide entertainment all morning.
• New Offering: Show your race bib at Sylvan Street Grille on the 23rd for a free beer or glass of wine!

🇺🇸 More About Scott

• Background: Scott was on his second deployment as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, having previously served in Fallujah in 2005.
• Legacy: He was killed in action as a result of a roadside bomb on April 2, 2006 in Ramadi, Iraq.

💖 Beneficiary

• Proceeds: 100% of the event proceeds will be allocated to CPL Scott J. Procopio Memorial Scholarship program to provide high school seniors with academic scholarships.

🌦️ Weather & Refund Policy

• Weather Policy: This event will take place rain or shine!
• Refunds/Deferrals: Free deferral and transfer policy through March 1st. $10 fee for administration after that.
• Cancellations: In the case of cancellation due to public safety or inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled if possible.
