Welcome to Hair of the Dog 5K and Beer Mile!

📅 When to Join Us

• Date: Saturday, May 9th
• 10:00 AM: 5K
• 12:00 PM: Beer Mile
• 2:00 PMish: Kids Donut Dash (this will take place after the Beer Mile)

3:00 PM: Wiener Dog Derby and a full day of run, dogs, beer, and FUN!

❤️ Why We Run

We love running, dogs, and beer and we wanted turn those loves into a way to give back to the animal rescue organizations in our community.

This race is fun and social and is NOT a qualifier for the World Championship (yes that’s a real thing).

🏃‍♂️ Events Overview

5k Run/Walk and Dog Jog

• Timing: This is a traditional 5K event and will be timed.
• Participation: You can run it as fast as you can or jog/walk it for fun.
• Bring Your Dog: Feel free to bring your dog, but dogs are not required!
• Goodies: All human participants will receive a signature Hair of the Dog mug and a free post run beer at Atypical.

🍺 Beer Mile

Please join us for the 3rd annual Beer Mile! 4 Beers and a 1 Mile run! Here is how it is done:

• Drink: Drink one full can of beer within the sectioned off Beer Zone on our course.
• Run: Run one loop of the 1/4 mile course.
• Repeat: Repeat the above steps 3 more times.
• Penalty: If you "toss your cookies," run a one lap penalty but no extra beer required.

Get four friends and sign up for a Relay Team!

👶 Kids Donut Dash

A fun opportunity for the kids to get in on the action! This event is for children 12 and under:

• Activity: Kids will eat a donut quickly and then run 1/4 a mile.
• Medal: All participants will receive a Donut Dash participation medal.

🐶 Wiener Dog Derby

• Eligibility: All Dachshunds and Dachshund mixes welcome.
• Helpers: Each Dachshund should bring two human assistants.
• Treats: Each dog participant will get a treat bag and custom race bandana.
• Awards: Top 3 dogs win prizes.

📦 Packet Pickup and Registration

• When: Packet pickup on Friday, May 8th from 4:30-7:00 PM and on the morning of the event from 8:45-9:45 AM.
• Check-in: Beer mile packet pickup from 11-11:45 AM, wiener dog check-in from 1:30-2:00 PM.
• Same Day Registration: Available for all events.
• Payments: Cash and credit cards accepted.

🏆 Awards

• 5K: Top 3 Overall Male, Female, and Dog will be awarded.
• Age Categories: Small awards for races in various categories.
• Beer Mile: Top 3 Overall and 1st Place Relay Team.
• Wiener Dog Derby: Top 3 Dogs.

🚗 Designated Drivers

We want everyone to have fun and be safe. Please make plans to have a designated driver join you.

🎉 Other Festivities

Join us for a whole day event benefitting our local rescues:

• Family Friendly: All ages able to participate in all events except the Beer Mile.
• Food Choices: Food trucks (Sone of a Brunch and Mama Mac's) available.
• Vender Booths: Pet friendly vendor booths and fundraising events.
• Local Rescues: Present to make sure everyone has the best time!
