River City 5 Miler/5k

Race Purpose

• Fundraiser: This race is a fundraiser for Huntington High Cross-Country.
• Community Support: A portion of the proceeds will go toward the Facing Hunger Foodbank.

Course Details

• Starting Point: The course starts at Harris RiverFront Park.
• Route: The course runs downtown, loops through Marshall’s campus, and returns to the park.
• Course Difference:
  • The 5K participants will turn left onto Hal Greer Boulevard.
  • The 5 Miler participants will continue along 5th Avenue to approximately 19th Street before turning back.
• Aid Station: A water station will be available about 1.5 miles into the 5K and shortly before the 3-mile mark of the 5 Miler.

Packet Pickup and Race-Day Registration

• Time: Packet pickup and race-day registration will begin at 7:00 a.m.
• Location: Check-in table will be near the 12th Street entrance to Harris Riverfront Park.

Race Start

• Time: Both the 5K and 5 Miler will begin at 8:00 a.m.
• Starting Line: Located at the far end of the parking lot near the 12th Street entrance.

Awards

• Ceremony Timing: The awards ceremony will begin shortly after the age-group results are finalized.
• Age Groups: 0-10, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 60 and older.
• Awards: Custom River City 5 Mile Keychains awarded to the top 3 overall in the 5K and 5 Miler, plus the top two in each age group.
• Cash Prizes: Top 3 overall in the 5 Miler: 1st-$150, 2nd-$75, 3rd-$50.

*High school and collegiate athletes are responsible for verifying that participation and/or acceptance of prize money complies with all applicable school, state association, NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, USATF, or other governing-body rules. Any declined prize money will be donated directly to Facing Hunger Foodbank. In general, High School athletes should not accept cash prizes.

Food Drive for Facing Hunger Foodbank

• Donation Request: Please consider bringing a nonperishable food item to donate.
• Collection Area: A collection container will be located near the check-in area.
• Suggested Items: Canned fruits, vegetables, meats, soups, beef stew, chili, rice, pasta, tomato pasta sauce, boxed helper meals, peanut butter, dry beans, dry cereal, instant oatmeal, cream of wheat, shelf-stable milk, bottled water.
