A Unique Airport Race Experience
We are excited to announce that this year's race will take place at the Marion County
Airport!
Aviation enthusiasts won't want to miss this rare opportunity to run a 5K on airport property
while enjoying the sights and sounds of aircraft operations.
Please note that this is a trail-style course. Participants should be prepared to encounter a variety of surfaces, including pavement, asphalt, gravel, and other uneven terrain. We encourage all runners and walkers to use caution, wear appropriate footwear, and participate at their own risk.
Why We Run
Marion County is home to some of Florida's most treasured natural resources, including Silver
Springs, Rainbow Springs, and Silver Glen Springs. These springs, along with our lakes and
rivers, make Marion County a unique place to live, work, and play.
Because we all rely on these water resources for drinking water and everyday life, protecting
them is a shared responsibility. The Run for the Springs 5K raises awareness about actions
individuals and businesses can take to help preserve our water resources for future generations.
Proceeds from the event are returned to Marion County residents and local businesses through
grants that support projects benefiting the health and protection of our springs.
