MT Hearts Memorial 5K

Race Overview

Join us for the inaugural MT Hearts Memorial 5K Run, 1-Mile Walk & Virtual Race on June 19, 2027, at Citrus High School in Inverness, Florida.

The event is held in loving memory of Marlene Tobin, a longtime Citrus County resident, dedicated teacher, and lifelong athlete who passed away from metastatic breast cancer on June 11, 2026. Marlene touched countless lives through her kindness, strength, and commitment to her family, students, and community. This race brings people together to celebrate her life while continuing her legacy of caring for others.

Event Participation

• Register for the Event: Whether you run, walk, or participate virtually, every registered participant will receive an official event shirt and custom finisher medal.
• Purpose: Move with purpose while helping support metastatic breast cancer research and families in our local community.
• Learn More: Gain insights about Marlene’s story and the MT Hearts Memorial Foundation at mtheartsfoundation.com.
• Foundation Mission: MT Hearts Memorial Foundation was created in memory of Marlene Tobin, with proceeds supporting metastatic breast cancer research and assistance to students and families at Hernando Elementary School.

  • 6:30 am - Day of Race Registration & Packet Pickup
  • 7:00 am - 5K Race Start
  • 7:05 am - 1 Mile Walk Start
  • 8:00 am - Kids Fun Run (FREE)

Virtual Participation

• Unable to Attend: Not able to make the event? Do you live outside of the area but still want to support the MT Hearts Memorial Foundation?
• Virtual Events: Signup for the virtual 5K Run/Walk or the virtual 1 Mile Walk and complete the distance on your own time while supporting a great cause.
• Mailing of Materials: If you register for the Virtual Walk/Run, we will mail you your T-shirt, Bib number, and Finisher Medal post event!
