Welcome to the 2027 Rochester Running Club Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run!

Race Details

At 9:00am CST, the clock and finish line stopwatch will begin.

You should begin your race exactly how many minutes and seconds you think it will take you to complete the race before 10am. If you predict that you'll run or walk a 30 minute 5K, you'll want to begin the race promptly at 9:30am, to finish exactly at 10am. If the race will take you exactly 1 hour, you'll want to leave right away at 9:00 AM. If you're planning to run a 28:42 5K, you'll want to start at 9:31:18. If you think you're going to run a 10 minute 5K, you're going to need to re-evaluate your time... or get an agent. Regardless, no stopping on the course, please. If you finish before 10am, your time is disqualified, and you just supported a local 5K. So, you're still a huge winner!

Prizes

When the clock strikes 10:00 AM, the first 10 people to cross the line will win a beautifully carved, highly sought after & festive Polar Bear, designed by Rochester's very own Roger Heil!

Note: The clock is not visible at the finish line and participants are not allowed to wear or use a watch or any timing device at all. Yes, this is an integrity 5K 😊. You don't REALLY win the bear unless you play fair.

Registration Information

The cost for this race is $20 for Rochester Running Club members, and $25 for non-members, through 12/14/26, which includes a fun and useful race gift.

Packet Pickup will be at Minnesota Treads before the run from 8AM-9AM.

THIS YEAR... we will begin and end on the trail near Minnesota Treads.

We will update within the next week with a map of the course. We currently intend to utilize Cascade Lake, as it's a nearly perfect 5K to and from the store, so you get to stay warm for longer.

Pricing Breakdown

• Members: $20 from 07/01/26 - 12/14/26
• Non-members: $25 from 07/01/26 - 12/14/26
• Members: $25 from 12/15/26 - 1/1/2027
• Non-members: $30 from 12/15/26 - 1/1/2027

Raceday Registration: $30 for members or $35 for non-members from 8:00-8:30AM.

Event Conclusion

Immediately after the run, head on over to Charlie's Eatery & Pub to their Event Center room where the Polar Bear award winners will be announced. You and your family and friends may wish to enjoy some beverages and food while waiting for the announcement of the winners. All are invited.
