Public Lands Ride

Event Overview

• Organizer: Join the Pennsylvania Environmental Council for the 8th annual Public Lands Ride!
• Date: Saturday, September 26, 2026
• Location: Black Moshannon State Park and Moshannon State Forest, 4216 Beaver Rd, Philipsburg, PA

Ride Description

• Event Type: A non-competitive mixed-surface ride celebrating bikes, community, and public lands!
• Courses: Three marked courses - 65 mile, 42 mile, and 22 mile, featuring diverse terrain.
• Tire Recommendation: Tires at least 35mm, preferably 40-45mm due to varied terrain.
• E-Bikes: Permitted but must adhere to DCNR's e-bike guidelines, found here.

Support and Amenities

• Aid Stations: Every 15-20 miles stocked with real food, plus a post-ride meal and beverages.
• Course Marking: All courses will be marked at turns and intersections.
• Sponsorship: Opportunities available – contact Molly Kestner at mkestner@pecpa.org.
• Proceeds: All funds benefit the Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC).

Routes and Contests

• Fundraiser Category: Raise $500 for PEC by September 18 to ride for free and receive camping and exclusive swag.

Schedule

• Friday, September 25: Group camping set up after 3 PM: Evening social details TBD.
• Saturday, September 26: Registration from 7:15-8:45 AM: all rides start at 9:00 AM: post-ride cookout all afternoon.

Accommodations

• Onsite Camping: $20 extra for tent/car camping (no RVs) on Friday and Saturday nights.
• Private Sites: Reserve through the State Park website.
• Other Lodging: Options include Black Moshannon State Park Campsites & Cabins, GodSpeed Hostel, and We Are Inn.

Volunteer Opportunities

• Volunteer Benefits: Free camping, food on event day, PLR swag, and a heartfelt thank you!
