Lake Metroparks PIRATE Triathlon/Paddle Triathlon

Location: Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park

Race begins at 8am

Race Distances

• Swim: 500 Meters/Kayak 2 Kilometers
• Bike: 20 Kilometers
• Run: 5 kilometers

Swim Details

• Distance: 500 meters in Lake Erie
• Start: In water, depth approximately 6 feet
• Wet Suits: Permitted, no flotation devices allowed
• Lifeguards: On duty for safety

Kayak Details

• Location: Start on the beach west of the swim course
• Route: Paddle north 100 meters, then east parallel to the swim course
• Turnaround: Return to the beach at the same location departed from
• Total Distance: Approximately two kilometers

Bike Course

• Distance: 20 Kilometers (12.4 miles) out and back
• Route: Paved roads starting from Fairport Beach
• Traffic: Local law enforcement will attempt to hold traffic at intersections
• Safety: Bicycle helmets required, six railroad crossings to cross with caution

Run Course

• Distance: 5 Kilometers (3.1 miles) on paved roads
• Route: Marked with directional arrows, run with traffic
• Safety: Look both ways when crossing intersections
• Traffic Control: Managed at critical intersections within Fairport Village limits
