Lutzie 43 Road Race

🏃‍♂️ WHAT

• Foundation History: The Lutzie 43 Road Race is in its 11th year and was started as the first fundraiser for the Lutzie 43 Foundation.
• Mission: The goal of the foundation is to inspire people to make better decisions as drivers and friends, using Philip’s life and legacy to inspire change.
• Motto: The foundation’s motto for drivers is to “Live like Lutz, Love like Lutz, and Learn from Lutz,” reflecting our desire to help others live out positive character attributes.
• Focus on Safety: The foundation exists to reduce distracted, impaired, and unsafe driving incidents, ultimately diminishing deaths caused by poor decisions.

📅 EVENT DETAILS

• On-Site Runner: The 5K will be on Saturday, August 2 and begin and end on the 43-yard line on Lutzie Field at Frank Fillman Stadium.
• Start Time: The race begins at 8:00 am kicking off with the 50-Yard Kids Run.
• Virtual Runner: Run from where you are OR join an organized virtual site listed below.
• Shipping Fee: There is a $5 shipping charge added to virtual runner fees at checkout.

🏁 COURSE

• Course Type: The on-site course is an up and down loop course through neighborhoods adjacent to Lassiter High School.

🏆 AWARDS

• Categories: Awards will be given for top 3 finishers of each age category for Male & Female.
• Overall Winners: We will also award the top overall Male & Female winners of the race.
• Age Groups: Age categories are 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.

👕 T-SHIRTS

• Guarantee: T-shirts are guaranteed to all registrations received prior to 7:40 am on the day of the race.
• Shipping Note: All virtual runners registered after 11:59 pm on Wednesday, 7/23 are not guaranteed to receive their shirt in time for race day.

🚗 ON-SITE PARKING

• Location: Plenty of parking at Lassiter High School, with the best parking at the stadium lot off Steinhauer Road.
• Alternative Parking: If that lot is full, there is parking in front of Lassiter High School at the main Shallowford Rd. entrance.

🌦️ WEATHER

• Conditions: The race will happen rain or shine.
• Updates: Check your email and Lutzie 43 social media on race morning for real-time updates if severe weather occurs.

📝 REGISTRATION

• Close Time: Online registration closes at 7:40 am on August 2nd.
• In-Person Sign-Up: Available on Friday, August 1st and race morning from 7:00 - 7:40 am on Lutzie Field.
• QR Code Registration: Race day registration will be available via QR code - charge only.
• Fees: $43 for adults and $30 for students.

💰 REFUNDS

• No Refunds: No refunds or transfers from person-to-person or year-to-year are allowed.
• Policy: Registration fees are not refundable in the event of race cancellation.

🎽 PACKET PICK-UP

• Date & Time: Packet pick-up will be held on Friday, August 1st, from 5 pm – 7 pm at Lucia’s Italian Restaurant.
• Race Morning Pickup: Also available on race morning between 7-7:40 am on Lutzie Field.

⏱️ TIMING

• Results: Live Results will be accessible via QR code found on your race bib when you cross the finish line.
• Timing Service: The race will be timed by Elite Race Timing.

💧 WATER STATIONS

• Availability: There will be several water stations on the course.
• Post-Race Snacks: Additional water and post-race snacks will be available at the finish line.

🐾 DOGS/STROLLERS

• Allowed: Dogs and strollers are allowed on the course and at the Start/Finish line.
• Leash Requirement: Dogs must be on a leash at all times.

🚑 FIRST AID

• Emergency Protocol: In case of an emergency, please notify one of the on-site medical volunteers or a police officer.

🚻 RESTROOMS

• Location: Restrooms are available at the Lassiter High School Gym Lobby.
