2nd Beat the Heat Maryland Indoor 5K/Family Fun Run at Arundel Mills Mall!

Race Overview

We are back again for the Beat the Heat Maryland Indoor 5K! We are launching the 2027 Run Sign Up for early bird pre-sign ups but note that details are subject to change as we approach the race.

With August temperatures and humidity soaring, we are offering a great way to get a 5K run in! This indoor 5K takes place entirely inside Arundel Mills Mall!

Race Details

• Date and Location: 2027-08-08 at Arundel Mills, Hanover, MD.
• Registration: Choose between completing multiple loops for the full 5K or opting for our family‑friendly fun run or walk, featuring a shorter distance perfect for kids and new runners.
• Participant Limit: This race has a firm participant limit. If registration is still open, you're in! Once we reach capacity, we’ll be excited to welcome you back to our next race.
• Stroller Policy: Please note that strollers are only allowed during the Fun Run/Walk.

Check-In Times

• Elite Runners: 7:45 AM
• 5K: 8:40 AM
• Fun Run/Walk: 9:45 AM

Post-Race Activities

After you cross the finish line, stick around for post-race activities, including fitness demos, recovery stretches, training tips, and workout ideas for all ages.

Swag and Giveaways

• Finisher's Medal: All participants receive both a finisher's medal and a t-shirt!
• Swag Bag: Check in for the swag bag our retailers and partners provide, including giveaways, raffles, promos, and discounts at Arundel Mills stores!
• Shirt Guarantee: Shirts are not guaranteed for runners who sign up after 8/1.
• Hydration: Running with water or other fluids is allowed as long as your container closes securely and won’t leak.

What to Bring

Your personal water, bags, and gear are welcome! Waves will start and finish in the food court, where plenty of tables and chairs will be available for storing your items. Please note that pets, selfie sticks, glass containers, and weapons are not permitted.

Parking and Entrance Recommendation

All parking is free! The closest and most convenient parking is at the Maryland Live! Casino parking garage. From there, enter the mall through the Food Court Entrance (Entry 2). For easy reference, Nando’s Peri‑Peri and Crafty Crab are located right next to that entrance.

Please use entries 1, 2 & 3 to enter the mall. Regular mall walking will not be permitted on the morning of August 9.

Distance Disclaimer

Please note: Course distance and start times may adjust slightly based on registration numbers and logistics. The 5K course is four laps around the mall and is about ~1/10th of a kilometer longer than an exact 5K.

Strollers and Children Note

The 5K course is four laps around the mall, which means there will be a few tight sections. Runners may also choose to use the three-step staircase in those areas. Any child participating in the 5K should be able to maintain a steady jogging pace. Everyone, especially families, is encouraged to join the Fun Run Or Walk if that’s the better fit for them!
