Mighty Mile - FREE RACE FOR KIDS - Detroit

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

• Event: The Mighty Mile is for kids only ages 5 to 14 years old.
• Inclusions: All runners will receive a T-shirt, Backpack, and a chipped timed accurate mile.
• Finisher Medal: Once the runner crosses the finish line they will receive a Mighty Mile Finisher Medal.
• Location: This race is located at the Track at Wayne State University (Tom Adams Field).

🌟 Encouragement for Kids

• Calling all Elementary and Middle School students: Finish up your school year with a challenging and fun mile and get your Summer off to an active healthy start!
• Entry Fee: FREE! There is no entry fee to run the Mighty Mile.
• Age Range: Open to children ages 5 to 14 years old.
• Michigan Running Foundation: This race is part of the Michigan Running Foundation Mighty Mile series aimed at encouraging children to run and stay active.

📝 Registration Details

• Online Registration: To participate in the event you must register your child online prior to the race.
• No On-Site Registration: There will be no registration available at the race.
• Participant Limit: Race is limited to the first 200 participants. Register early!

⏰ Race Schedule

• Race 1: 6:30pm | 5 - 7 year olds
• Race 2: 6:50pm | 8 – 9 year olds
• Race 3: 7:10pm | 10 - 11 year olds
• Race 4: 7:25pm | 12 - 14 year olds

📊 Results and Awards

• Timing: This race will be electronically timed using the disposable tag system on the bib number.
• Results Availability: Results will be posted immediately after the race on the same website.
• Awards: There are no awards for the race: the purpose is for the runner to challenge themselves.
• Finisher Medals: All runners will receive a Mighty Mile medal when they cross the finish line!

🏁 Course Information

• Course Layout: The start and finish is on the Wayne State Track - Tom Adams Field.
• Running Path: The first 1/4 mile is on the track, followed by a loop on sidewalks around the track, finishing with another 1/4 mile on the track.
• Encouragement: Volunteers from the Wayne State Team will be along the entire course to offer encouragement and support.
• Parental Involvement: Feel free to run with your child!

💧 Additional Information

• Packet Pick-Up: On race day at the Wayne State University Track starting at 5:15 pm.
• Hydration: Bring water for your child: there is no water available at the race.
