Community Tradition

The Shandon Turkey Trot & Burn 5K has become a beloved community tradition and is now the largest race in Shandon, growing to more than 1,200 participants last year. We are proud of that growth and look forward to continuing to build this special event for years to come.

Giving Back

• Proceeds: Support the Shandon Neighborhood Grant Program.
• Impact: Funding local nonprofit organizations making a meaningful impact throughout our community.
• Total Donations: Over $12,000 donated to local nonprofits.
• Goal: Support programs and services that strengthen our neighborhoods and improve lives.

Race Management

Managed by GRIT Endurance, LLC, this race benefits the Shandon Neighborhood Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing one of Columbia's most historic neighborhoods. Participants will enjoy a scenic run through beautiful Shandon on a USA Track & Field certified course. The race will start and finish near Craft and Draft, where we’ll celebrate with our awards ceremony following the event.

Turkey Burn Costume Contest

Participants are encouraged to show off their Thanksgiving spirit by dressing in their most creative Turkey Burn attire. Prizes will be awarded to the Top 10 most creative outfits!

Race Information

• Participants: Runners and walkers are welcome.
• Strollers: Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome.
• Weather: Race is held rain or shine.
• Policy: No refunds or deferrals.

Important Race Day Reminder

No Late Turkeys! For safety reasons, participants who are not present at the official start time with their race bib will not be permitted to start late. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the race begins.

Shirt Deadline

Register by November 3, 2026, to guarantee your race shirt. We will order additional shirts, but availability after the deadline is not guaranteed. Shirts must be picked up at packet pickup or on race day. We are unable to hold or mail shirts after the event.
