• Championship Event: Event doubles as the USATF Iowa Road 5k State Championship
• Course Location: The 5k course starts on the back loop in Water Works Park.
• Loop Structure: Course is flat and fast, finishing on a long straightaway.
• Yearly Celebration: 2025 marks the 6th annual Blazing 5k.

The 6th edition of the event date is now taking place on October 5th, 2025.

• Total Planned Purse: $2850 + Shoes + Event Record Bonuses
• 5k Male/Female Awards: 1st - $300 + Shoes: 2nd - $200 + Shoes: 3rd - $100 + Shoes
• Blazing Bonus: $300 for breaking Runablaze Team Record (only Runablaze Iowa Members Eligible)
• Other Prizes: Awards for Mile event, Recovery Half, combined categories, and course records.
