🌳 Race History

• Establishment: 2025 marks the third year for the DAM8.
• Initial Distances: Started with an 8Km, which was well received.
• Half Marathon Added: Last year we introduced a half-marathon format.
• New for 2025: This year we have added a full marathon to the lineup.

🏞️ Course Details

• Scenic Views: The rural DeRuyter area offers stunning natural beauty and wildlife.
• Elevation: The village is about 1300 ft, similar to the DAM at the Lake.
• Course Terrain: The H-M and Marathon courses are undulating.
• Special Route: The DAM8 Marathon takes a different route at the 20-mile point back to the finish.

🗺️ Course Variations

• Shared Courses: The spring and fall marathons share about 90% of their courses.
• Counties Involved: Courses cross four different counties: Madison, Onondaga, Cortland, and Chenango.
• Half-Marathon Details: Each half-marathon has distinct routes in three counties.
• Chenango County: The half-marathon courses do not enter Chenango County.

• Direction from Start: Participants looking left at the start will see a large hill.
• Park Highlight: The hill overlooks Highland Forest, one of the largest county parks in the nation.
• Location: Highland Forest is located in the southeast corner of Onondaga County.
• Vista Enjoyed: Participants enjoy a stunning view at the start before embarking on their race.
