You're invited to participate in Turning Point's signature event kicking off domestic violence awareness month, which is observed in October. This event is Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Freedom Hill County Park located at 14900 Metropolitan Parkway, Sterling Heights, MI, 48312.
Turning Point and Tara's sister formed a partnership to honor her memory after Tara was tragically murdered in Macomb County by her husband in 2007. Sharing Tara's life story through this partnership increases awareness about the prevalence and dangers of domestic violence and helps prevent other families from experiencing a similar tragedy.
Turning Point provides free, confidential services that are inclusive and accessible to reflect all the unique needs and identities of those who have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, or human trafficking. Services include:
In addition to these programs, Turning Point operates Second Hand Rose, a resale store that offers gently used merchandise to the community to support survivors and the agency’s mission.
Turning Point empowers survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking through comprehensive services and resources while advocating for community action to end oppression and violence.
Following the 5K, complimentary hot dogs, chips, and beverages are provided.
Event activities are located under the large covered pavilion. Free parking is available in lots adjacent to the pavilion.
