Welcome to beautiful Wilmington, NY, the home of Whiteface Mountain and the 8th annual Whiskey Run 5K and 10K!
Race History
- Historical Background: The area has quite a storied history with liquor, legal and otherwise.
- War of 1812: Wilmington supplied good rye whiskey to the American troops at the Battle of Plattsburgh as part of their daily ration.
- Prohibition Era: Wilmington residents provided temporary haven for bootleggers crossing the border.
- Local Cooperation: Until recently, Wilmington was home to US Barrel, a whiskey barrel cooperage.
Event Details
- Start Time: The run will start at 9:30 am at Preston Festival Field in Wilmington.
- Awards Ceremony: Following the race, there's an awards ceremony with food available for purchase.
- Participant Gifts: Run participants will receive a t-shirt and a “swag bag” filled with quality local goods.
- Finisher Medals: All run finishers will receive a medal.
Virtual Option
Virtual Option--- 5K & 10K- (Times must be turned in by 11:30 AM to qualify as a race finisher.) You can run anywhere anytime between 8 AM and 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 20. You will be able to submit your official results through text message or email (instructions will be sent).
T-shirt Ordering
- Order Details: Order t-shirts with registration, Ladies’ sizes small to Xtra large.
- Fit Information: They run small and have a V-neck with shorter sleeves.
- Men's Sizes: Small, medium, large, and Xtra large available.
- Registration: Ensure to order at the time of registration.
Packet Pick-up
- Time: 8 am- 9:15 am at the registration booth at Festival Field on Springfield Road.
- Race-day Registration: Limited registration is available from 8:00 am – 9:15 am.
- Location: Registration booth located at Festival Field.
- Parking: Various lots available including the Town Offices Parking Lot across from Festival Field.
Prizes and Awards
- Awards Timing: Prizes will be presented at 11:45 am.
- Raffle Drawing: A higher-value In-person Runner’s Raffle Drawing will follow.
- Categories: Prizes for top three overall finishers in both the 5K and 10K races, male and female.
- Age Categories: Awards for top 3 male and female finishers in each age category.

Photo Sharing
A unique Whiskey Run photo frame set-up at the Wilmington’s Preston Festival Field Park serves as an additional photo opportunity. Participants are encouraged to take their own photos and share them on Social Media and on the adkwhiskeyrun.com website.
Same-day Activities
- Whiskey Tastings: Available from 11 am-4pm at Preston Festival Field.
- Re-enactments: 1812 Battle of Plattsburgh re-enactors will be present with demonstrations.
- Memorial Ceremony: Battle of Plattsburgh Military ceremony in remembrance of local War of 1812 soldiers at 12:30pm.
- Entertainment: Live music and additional activities from 11 am – 4pm.
