Course Information

  • Course Description: The course follows a one-mile, gradual downhill stretch of Yakima Ave, finishing in the shadows of Yakima’s historic Larson Building.
  • Participation: Yakima Mile is open to kids, families, dogs, veterans, elite runners, and all those who want to run their fastest mile…. EVER (or walk, or jog… as you like).
  • Elite Mile: The Elite Mile races bring together many of the fastest milers from around the nation in hopes of breaking the Fastest Mile in Washington.
  • Record Holders: Sam Prakel currently holds the men's fastest mile in Washington time of 3:50.5 and Nikki Hiltz holds the women's record at 4:20.5.

Prizes and Challenges

  • Total Purse: The total purse for 2026 is over $60,000.
  • Top Finishers: Including $10,000 across the TOP 3 groups by number of finishers.
  • Group Challenge: If you are interested in participating in the Trouvé TRU-ly RAD Group Challenge, reach out to hello@yakimamile.org.
  • Youths Registration: Youths 18 & under register for free thanks to the generosity of our sponsors Home2 and Tru by Hilton.

Community and Purpose

  • Community Event: Yakima Mile is much more than a race: it brings the community together for fun and fitness.
  • Local Focus: Highlighting and celebrating the Yakima Valley on a local and national scale.
  • Support for Survivors: Hogback Development Company seeks to work with community leaders to shed light on and better access invaluable services provided by YWCA to survivors of domestic violence.

Registration Costs

  • Youth (18Y & under): FREE
  • Adults (19-59): $25
  • Senior Citizens (60Y+): $12.50
