About this race
Southern Sundown 4 Miler
Join us for a Saturday evening run on the streets of Lenoir followed by Awards and an epic post-race party hosted by Liquid Roots Brewing Project! The course will take you by amazing public art, through charming neighborhoods and past iconic factories. This four mile route tours by five properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places and will challenge runners of all levels. The Eighth Annual Southern Sundown 4 Miler promises to continue to deliver cool swag, unique awards, solid beer and great live music. You don’t want to miss it!

Packet Pick Up
- Early Packet Pick Up: Friday (8/14), 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Liquid Roots Brewing)
- Race Day Registration: Saturday (8/15), 5:00 pm - 6:45 pm (Liquid Roots Brewing)
Awards and Prizes
- Top 3 Overall: Male/Female (Custom Trophy + Gift Certificates)
- Top 2 Masters: Male/Female 40 & Up (Custom Trophy + Gift Certificates)
- Age Group Awards: Custom Medals for top 3 in each category
- Silver Streak & The Four Mile Flash: $100 Cash for setting a new course record
Kids Events
- Kids Fun Run: For ages 12 and under, 1/2 mile course. Cost: $5 in advance, $10 on race day.
- Whippersnapper Sprint: For ages 12 and under, 1 mile race: fastest will receive trophies and gift certificates.
- Starts: Both kids events start at 6:30 pm.
- Medals: Every participant receives a medal and custom bib.
Team Challenge
- Team Composition: 5-10 runners, must include at least one male and one female.
- Qualify for Awards: Both individuals and teams are eligible for awards.
- 30 Seconds Off: Time will reduce for specific criteria met by team members.
- Awards: Winning team receives a $200 Check for their designated nonprofit.
Mission
The primary purpose of SS4M is to promote a positive active lifestyle, to use running to foster a sense of community and healthy competition and to introduce the joy of running to people who have never considered it.
