What is a Tunnel To Towers Run & Walk?
The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001 after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. Honor all of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and support our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! Event Details
- Date: September 12, 2026
- Location: 50 Lawrenceville Street, McDonough, GA
- Community Gathering: This will be our 4th year in McDonough, GA, and we are excited to once again bring together the community to honor first responders, remember 9/11, and raise funds for Tunnel to Towers programs.
- Parking: Parking will be available at the parking deck across the street.
How far is a Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk?
This is a 5K (3.1 miles) to walk or run this event. Anyone can run, walk, or experience this event.
Packet Pickup
- Location: NewSole Running, 20 Macon St, McDonough, GA 30253
- Hours: 10:30 AM - 6 PM
- Race Day Pickup: Packets can also be picked up at the race location on the 7th.
Registration Information
- Day of Registration: Yes. Registration will open at 7:00 AM the morning of the run.
- Online Registration: Online registration will remain open until race day registration is closed.
- Bib Requirement: Yes, please display your bib on the front of your outermost garment.
- Front-Line Position: Runners predicting a pace faster than 6 minute/mile will be seeded in the front corral (arrive early).
Awards and Amenities
- Awards: We keep them very simple, most of our awards are based on firefighters, police or military running in gear in honor of Stephen Siller.
- Water Stations: Yes, a water station will be available along the route and at the start/finish line.
- Allowed Items: Strollers and wheelchairs are permitted. Firefighter turnout gear and military backpacks are also permitted.
- Responsibility: Please leave all personal items and valuables in your vehicle. Tunnel to Towers Foundation will not be responsible for the loss of any items.
Donations and Fundraising
- Registration Fee: Your registration fee does not count toward the fundraising goal.
- Packet Pickup by Another: Yes, they can. They must present a copy of your registration receipt.
- Post-Race Donations: Yes. Donations will be accepted for 6 weeks after the event.
- Offline Donations: Please mail any offline donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, ATTN: Thomas Mazza, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
Volunteering and Sponsorship
- Sponsorship: Please send all sponsorship correspondence to McDonough@t2t.org with your contact information.
- Donating Goods or Services: You can contact us at McDonough@t2t.org.
- Volunteering: Email us at McDonough@t2t.org and we will reply within 24-48 hours.
Medical and Receipts
- Medical Staff: Yes, there will be an Emergency Medical Service team available on site.
- Receipts: When you register online, you should automatically receive a receipt.
Refunds and Transfers
- Registration Transfers: Yes. See information above OR contact us at McDonough@t2t.org.
- Refund Policy: We do not provide refunds for the event.

Yes, we offer fundraising incentives each year: check out our latest in our Fundraising Guide. To qualify, complete your fundraising by June 30, 2024 for winter and spring events, or October 10, 2024 for summer and fall events.
