About Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk

The Tunnel to Towers Run & Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001, after strapping on his gear and running 3 miles through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. We honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, by supporting our first responders and military who make extraordinary sacrifices in the line of duty! This will be the 7th year in Fort Worth, and we are excited to once again bring together the community to honor first responders and military, remember 9/11, and raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers programs.

Honoring Officer Garrett Hull

Police Officer Garrett Hull - Fort Worth Police Department End of Watch: September 14, 2018. Officer Garrett Hull was shot and killed while attempting to arrest three serial robbers. He and his undercover team had been tracking the suspects when they robbed a bar, and during the pursuit the offenders opened fire, fatally wounding him. During his 17 years with the Fort Worth Police Department, Officer Hull served in specialized tactical units including the Special Response Team, Narcotics Division, and Tactical Intelligence Division. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and avid sportsman, he is remembered for his courage and dedication. In December 2018, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the Hull family’s mortgage as part of its Season of Hope program.

Race Details

• Distance: This is a 5K (3.1 miles) event open to all.
• Packet Pickup: Luke’s Locker – Shops at Clearfork, 5255 Monahans Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76109, Hours: 10am to 7pm Thursday and Friday, October 8th and 9th.
• Day of Registration: Yes, registration remains open until 8:15 am on the event day.
• Online Registration: Closes at 8:15 am on event day.

Additional Information

• Bib Number: Must be displayed on the front of your outermost garment.
• Front-Line Position: Runners with a pace faster than 6 minute/mile will be seeded in the front corral.
• T-shirt: Guaranteed for registrations before 9/21/2026.
• Awards: Medals for top placements, finisher medals for all, and chip timing available.

Water and Items

• Water Availability: Water stations along the route and at the start/finish area.
• Permitted Items: Strollers and wheelchairs allowed: leave valuables in your vehicle.
• Fundraising: Registration fee does not count towards fundraising goal.
• Packet Pickup by Others: Allowed with a copy of your registration receipt.

Registration Policies

• Transfer Registration: Allowed before October 9th with notification.
• Refund Policy: No refunds regardless of circumstances.
• Volunteering: Register online to volunteer for the event.
• Medical Staff: Emergency Medical Service available on-site.

Additional Restrictions

• Pets: No pets allowed at the event.
• Running Awards: Special awards for fastest firefighter, police officer, military servicemember, and medals for various age categories.
