Bound for the Sound

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

• Event: Bound for the Sound is 5k and 10k road race in Old Lyme, CT.
• Start Location: Both courses start at popular Sound View Beach in Old Lyme, CT.
• Course Details: The 10K is mostly flat with some gently rolling hills, while the 5K is very flat and very fast.
• Finish Line: Both races finish down historic Hartford Avenue facing the beach. Post race food and drink is included in your race entry.

🏅 Certification

• Course Certification: The 10K course is USATF certified CT25015JHP.
• Championship: Will serve as the USATF-CT 10K State Championship for both 2025 and 2026.
• Series Conclusion: This race concludes the USATF-CT Road Grand Prix series.

💵 Entry Fees

• 10K Fee: $25 before August 1, $27.50 between August 1 and August 31, $30 from September 1 onwards. Entry includes a t-shirt and chip timing.
• 5K Fee: Same structure as 10K fees with entry including a t-shirt and chip timing.
• Family Fun Run: $5, includes a finisher prize. T-shirt not included but can be added for $10.

🕒 Event Schedule

• Registration: Available online only up to and including race day.
• Check-in: Race day check in and bib collection starts at 7:00 am.
• Race Times: 10K starts at 8 AM, 5K starts at 8:15 AM, Family Fun Run starts at 9:15 am.

🚗 Parking

• Free Parking: Volunteers will assist with parking management throughout the day.
• Designated Areas:
  • 1. Town-owned lot at the end of Hartford Avenue (91 Hartford Ave., Old Lyme, CT) - Adjacent to Start/Finish.
  • 2. Lot next to the Old Lyme police station on Shore Road (290 Shore Road, Old Lyme, CT) - 0.4 mile walk to Start/Finish.
  • 3. Town-owned lot at Cross Lane (12 Cross Lane, Old Lyme, CT) - 0.5 mile walk to Start/Finish.
• RV Parking: If you have an RV or large vehicle, please park at Cross Lane lot.

🏆 Awards

• Overall Finishers: Top three male and female finishers for both 5K and 10K.
• Non-binary Finisher: Top non-binary 5K and 10K finisher.
• Age Groups: Awards for the top three finishers in each age group: 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+.
• Fun Runners: Each will receive a finisher prize.

🏃‍♀️ The Run

• Timing: Both the 10K and 5K races are chip timed with instant results.
• Course: Scenic course along Long Island Sound.
• Weather: Rain or Shine.
• Walkers: Welcome, need to register to participate, and start on time behind runners.

🎉 The Extras

• Race T-shirt: For all 5K and 10K participants: must register by Sept. 1 to guarantee first choice size.
• Extras: Free Photos and Parking.
• Support: Friendly volunteers will be available.
• Hydration: Stations on course and at finish.

All race proceeds will be donated to the Old Lyme Fire Department Auxiliary.
