Peaks of Otter Christmas Classic 5k

🎉 Event Overview

• Celebration: The Peaks of Otter Christmas Classic 5k is celebrating 46 years! Join runners and walkers of all ages and abilities for this central Virginia holiday tradition.
• Children's Event: Children are also invited to participate in the "Peaks Junior" 1 Mile.
• Support: Proceeds support the Bedford Area YMCA's Financial Aid program.
• Community Spirit: This event is known for its friendly faces, caroling volunteers, and fun post-race celebration with a cinnamon roll!

• 5k Live: 8:30 AM
• 1 Mile "Junior Peaks": approx. 9:45 AM

📝 Registration

• 5K In Person: $25 (thru 10/12), $30 (10/13-12/5), $35 Race Day (12/6)
• Virtual 5K: $25
• 1 Mile "Junior Peaks": $12 (thru 10/19), $15 (10/20-12/6)
• Virtual Peaks Jr. 1 Mile: $12

💲 Refund Policy

• Fees: Registration fees are non-transferable & non-refundable.
• Entry Use: An entry can only be used for the person registered for the entry.
• Deferrals: Entries cannot be deferred to the following year or a future event.

👕 T-Shirts

• Guarantee: World famous, long sleeve, t-shirts are guaranteed to those registered for all 5k and 1 Mile events by November 17th.
• Availability: On November 18th and after, t-shirts will be available at packet pickup on a first come basis.

• Saturday (12/6): 7:00 am - 8:15 am, Bedford Baptist Church, 1516 Oakwood St. Bedford, VA 24523
• Packet Pickup: "Yes" someone else can pick up your packet for you.

🦽 Assisted Participants

• Stroller Policy: We are pleased to provide an opportunity for assisted participants to enjoy race day.
• Registration: Both the participant being pushed and the pusher are required to register for this event.
• Start Time: Assisted participants will start prior to the 5K start and be ranked separately from the 5k event.

🏆 Awards

• Ceremony: Award ceremony will be held following both 5k and 1 mile events.
• Results: After the event results can be found on our RunSigUp page.
• Categories: Top 4 Overall M/F, Top Overall Masters M/F, Top 3 in each age group.
• Challenge: "Top of the Hill challenge, $25 to first make and female to reach top of Bedford Memorial hill.

🏃‍♂️ Team Competition

• Registration: Individuals can register for our team competition: a minimum of 5 comprises a team.
• Team Options: Participants can choose to join a team already listed or create their own team.
• Corporate Cup: This will be given to the top team based on the lowest cumulative time of the 5 team members.
• Deadline: Team registration ends on Friday, December 5th at 6:00 PM. No Team Members will Be Added on Race Day.

📏 Age Groups

• Custom Medals: Custom medals for age group awards.
• 5K Race Age Groups: 12 & under, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & up.
• Ranking: Age Group ranking based on "chip" time.

• Age Categories: 0-5, 6-8, 9-12

🏞️ Race Course

• Course: The start and finish is at Bedford Baptist Church, 1516 Oakwood St., Bedford, Virginia 24523.
• Route: Participants for the 5k proceed out of the church driveway and left on to Oakwood St, following the Bedford Loop.
• Support: 100% of the proceeds raised will go for scholarships to low and fixed-income families, seniors, and individuals.
