Race Overview

• Distances: 25K and 10K
• Location: Scenic tour linking the Smith Mountain Lake State Park trail system
• Terrain: Well-maintained doubletrack trails
• Features: Stunning lake views and variety of native forest terrain

25K

• Start/Finish: Beach Pavilion
• Course Description: Fast and mostly nontechnical with a little over 1800 feet of elevation gain.
• Challenges: Resisting distraction from beautiful lake views along the way.
• Course Marking: Clearly marked with blue flagging and directional arrows.

10K

• Start/Finish: Beach Pavilion
• Elevation Gain: About 700 feet
• Course Highlights: Technical section early on followed by flat, runnable doubletrack.
• Course Marking: Clearly marked with pink flagging and directional arrows.

Aid Stations

Aid stations will be placed along the 25K route with various refreshments:

• Mile 3.5: Unmanned water stop
• Mile 4.85: Campfire Amphitheater, featuring gorgeous lake views
• Mile 10: Campground
• Mile 12: Five Oaks Trail loop

The 10K will share the Five Oaks Trail aid station (mile 2.75).

Parking &: Park Entry

• Entry Fee: Daily vehicle entry fee included in race registration
• Benefits: Avoid congestion and delays at the park entrance
• Annual Pass: Entry fee still included for runners with a Virginia State Parks pass
