About the Race

Each year, Vernon Recreation hosts a Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot to raise funds and collect non perishables for the Harvest House Food Pantry located in Sussex, NJ.

• Mission: The Harvest House Community Lunch Program was established by 13 Vernon Township High School students in 1997 as the VTHS Hunger Project.
• 501c(3): A nonprofit corporation that provides nourishing meals in a clean, welcoming safe environment to those in need.
• Current Service: They currently serve 50+ people A DAY through a pickup and go system.
• Community Support: Join us to help meet this community need as we head into the colder months.

Participation Details

So, dust off your finest feathers and join the Vernon Township Board of Recreation for a breath of fresh autumn air Thanksgiving morning to hobble before you gobble. It's easy as pumpkin pie!

• Format: Run or walk on your own, with family, or create a team with friends.
• Route: A nice combination of hills and turns through a picturesque rural landscape, including a cheering section of local cows!

Registration Fees

• Individual Registration: $30.00 (Increases to $35 on 11/15/26 and day of).
• Group Registration: Flocks of four or more - $25 each participant (Increases to $30 on 11/15/26 and day of).
• Children Under 10: FREE!
• Included: Race Bib, swag bag filled with goodies, race T-Shirt guaranteed for paid registrants by 10/31/26, bragging rights, and lifetime memories.

Let’s see your turkey legs! Prizes for the most fun feathers! Please bring a non-perishable item to donate to our local food pantries - every bit helps.
