CALLING ALL SLEEPWALKING SUPERSTARS!
It’s time once again for the biggest little race in town: The Lazy Days of Summer 0.5K—and this year, we’re putting the Zzz in “zoom” with our new theme:
THE PJ RELAY.
That’s right. Grab your slippers, fluff your pillow, and stretch those sleep-deprived calves because we’re racing (term used very loosely) in our jammies for a cause that matters. Whether you're rocking footies, flannel, or full-on satin glam, this one’s for you.
This isn’t about speed or stamina. It’s about showing up half-awake and all heart—for the kids.
Act quickly! We need you to register ASAP to make sure you get your preferred T-shirt size. Don’t worry, this is the only part of the event that requires speed. Register today and you can coast through the rest of it.
Did you see the part about raising money? Get a team together and crowd fund for Child Watch. The team donating the most money is the big winner! Team Captains can create a team on this site and send invites to other team members. Set your own fundraising goal and start harassing friends and family for donations in no time!
Get your own kid-powered team together and show your parents who wears the pajama pants in the family. If your grown-up isn’t buying it just keep asking. Eventually, you will wear them down.
We know your heart is in the right place, but don’t forget there is a little something in it for you too! We will have prizes for best costume, best bed head, most money raised by a team or individual, and more.
We will be at Paducah Beer Werks at 10 am for sign-in and swag pick-up. Come early and carb up while listening to live (pre-recorded) motivational tunes to wake you up and get the juices flowing. At 11:00-ish we’ll have a short warm-up (wouldn't want to over-exert ourselves) and then it’s go time! We’ll sound the alarm clock! Then four leisurely laps around the parking lot (relax - no one is counting) and bam! You cross the finish line and unleash your inner-champion. Run, crawl, sleepwalk, breakdance... anything goes!
Prizes will be awarded after the last person drags themselves across the finish line. Be sure to stick around for lunch at PBW and bask in the glory of your accomplishment. Nothing says victory like pepperoni chips and pizza. Now that’s the sweet smell of success!
Child Watch relies on widespread community support to help us provide free therapy, education, and CASA advocacy services for child abuse victims in our region. The Lazy Days of Summer 0.5K is a fun, quick, and easy way to help end child abuse in our community and change the course of an abused child's life.
This event is held in conjunction with the Community Foundation of West Kentucky's Fred Paxton Challenge for Charities. All funds raised at the event will be matched up to $10,000. Sign up today and help Child Watch create a community free from child abuse and neglect with every step!
