MCRRC Kids on the Run

Event Overview

Kids on the Run and the Kids Marathon are non-competitive running events for children and young people age 17 and younger.

• Age Range: Participants must be 17 years of age or younger.
• Distance Options: Participants can choose from four distances based on their age and ability.
• Event Distances: The event will feature 100m Toddler Trot, Half-Mile, One-Mile, and 2K Kids Marathon events.
• Location: All events take place on the paved trails of Bohrer Park in the City of Gaithersburg.

Course Details

Participants do not run on roads. There is a ‘rabbit’ runner who will lead the participants in each event. There is also a ‘sweeper’ who follows behind for each event ensuring everyone makes it back to the finish line.

• Course Type: All events are held on paved trails.
• Event Leadership: A ‘rabbit’ runner leads the participants.
• Safety Measure: A ‘sweeper’ follows to ensure all participants finish.
• Cheering Opportunities: There are multiple opportunities to see and cheer for the youth runners!
