Sunrise start at Main Beach Park, 32 N. Fletcher, Fernandina Beach, FL

Race Description

• Event Purpose: Wrap up the holiday season and start your new year off right by joining the Amelia Island Runners for our 2nd Annual Cannon Ball Run on scenic Amelia Island.
• Course Experience: The fun 5k and half marathon courses will take you through the sights of Amelia Island.
• Scenic Route: The final miles of the half marathon course will take you through one of the most beautiful and historic roads through Ft. Clinch State Park, out past the cannons, and down to the finish line.
• Starting Point: The race will start and finish at the oceanfront Main Beach Park just steps from the sand.

About the Organizers

• Local Club: AIR has been the local running club on Amelia Island since 2004.
• Passion for Running: We are passionate about sharing our love of running Amelia Island.
• Event Return: After a successful first year, AIR is pleased to bring back the Cannon Ball Run for locals, First Coast residents, and visitors to NE Florida.

Participant Perks

• Shirt Availability: All participants who register by 12/15 will receive a long sleeved performance shirt. After that date sizing and availability are not guaranteed.

Packet Pick-Up

• Friday, January 2nd: Noon to 6pm (Friday packet pickup only available for those registered by 12/29/25 at 11:59pm) at Game Changers Running Company Amelia Island, 1881 S 14th St #5, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
• Race Day: Saturday, January 3th – 6:30am at Main Beach Park.
• Encouragement: Runners are encouraged to pick up their packets prior to race day to avoid delays at the event (only for those registered by 12/29/25).
• Race Day Pick-Up: Race day packet pick-up will be available at the event starting area. If possible, please pick up your packet in advance to save delays on race day.

Course Info

• Course History: The Cannon Ball Run course is very similar to the Reindeer Run course that AIR staged for 10 years.
• Scenic Experience: This course will take you through the historic and scenic sights of the island while immersing each runner in both the history and beauty that makes Amelia Island so special.
• Trail Segment: The 5k and half-marathon course are primarily on paved city streets but both have a small segment through the Egan’s Creek greenway. This section is grass trail.

Timing and Awards

• Time Limit: The course will close 3.5 hours after the start of the race.
• Finishing Medals: Medals will be awarded to each finisher.
• Overall Awards: Overall Male and Female and age group awards will also be presented.
• Age Group Awards: Age group awards for the 5k will be in 10-year age categories, and for the half-marathon will be in 5-year age categories.

FAQ

• Parking: Event parking is available in the parking lots around Main Beach Park and street parking is available in the residential areas north of the park. Please respect private property and driveways and follow all traffic and parking laws.
• Post Race Celebration: Please join us for the post-race celebration in the park. Food and beverages will be available to registered race participants.
• Refund Policy: We are unable to accommodate any transfers or deferrals. Absolutely no refunds.
• Water Stops: Water stops will be available on both the 5k and half-marathon course. Water stops will be marked on the course map.
