Run for ALD, Cure the Boys

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

Knockout ALD is proud to present our 8th Annual Run for ALD, Cure the Boys on Nov. 23rd, a 5K/1 mile run/walk homegrown event, (with a virtual option!) the only one of its kind in the St. Louis area that raises awareness and funds for adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).

❓ What is ALD?

• Definition: ALD is a very progressive rare disease that most severely affects about 1 in 17,000 boys, many of whom suffer severe neurological symptoms that often result in death if undiagnosed and not treated very early.

🎗️ Why Participate?

• Inspiration: Our event is inspired by the vision of our son Nicholas who had a successful bone marrow transplant to halt the progression of his cerebral ALD at the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital.
• Funds: 100% of the funds raised from our event will directly benefit the University of Minnesota's Leukodystrophy Center for ALD Research.
• Goals: Support their research efforts for early identification, more effective therapy and treatment options, and hopefully one day a cure for this devastating disease.

🗓️ Event Details

• Date: Join us on Nov. 23 at 9 a.m. for the in-person 5K run/one mile walk in Creve Coeur Park, near St. Louis, MO.
• Virtual Option: Register to participate virtually from wherever you are on your own time.

💖 Donations

• Support: The majority of our funds come from donations above and beyond registration. Please consider making a donation during registration.
• Mail Donations: Donations may also be made by check (avoids online fees) and mailed directly to Knockout ALD, 1551 Timberlake Manor Parkway, Chesterfield, MO 63017.

👕 T-Shirts

• How to Get One: Register to walk or run in person or virtually. Registration deadline for a t-shirt is Oct. 23.

🤝 Teams

• Form or Join: Yes! Our teams are a big part of raising awareness and funds. You have the option to form or join a team during registration.
