Breakaway 5K

🏃‍♂️ Race Overview

The Breakaway 5K and Marilyn & Nat Golzbein Memorial Fun Run are the principal fundraisers supporting scholarships for Old Orchard Beach High School graduates. The scholarships are awarded by the MAPS Scholarship Foundation, a group of retired educators and former students from OOB who aspire to support the continuing education of OOB High School graduates. 100% of the proceeds directly benefit the MAPS Foundation.

In 2025, MAPS Scholarship Foundation granted sixteen $1000 scholarships to Old Orchard Beach High School graduates.

📍 Race Details

• Start Location: The race start location is at the corner of Walnut St. & Milliken St. in front of the public parking lot.
• Course Description: The course follows Milliken St. and West Grand Avenues to Ocean Park and back to the finish at The Brunswick. The course is mostly flat and fast. PR's Very Possible!!
• Awards Ceremony: Join us at The Brunswick on the beach for a post-race continental breakfast and awards ceremony!
• T-shirt: Race T-Shirt for first 300 runners registered.

🗓️ Important Dates

• Registration Closure: Registration closes on Monday, August 10, 2026. No race day registrations.
• Packet Pick Up: Pre-race packet pick up is Friday, August 14, 2026, 4:00-6:00 pm, at the Milliken Mills parking lot, near the race start.
• Race Day Packet Pick Up: Race day packet pick up begins at 6:00 am at the Milliken Mills parking lot.
• Parking: Free race day parking in the public lot on Milliken Street until 10:00 am.
