🏃♂️ Race Overview
The Breakaway 5K and Marilyn & Nat Golzbein Memorial Fun Run are the principal fundraisers supporting scholarships for Old Orchard Beach High School graduates. The scholarships are awarded by the MAPS Scholarship Foundation, a group of retired educators and former students from OOB who aspire to support the continuing education of OOB High School graduates. 100% of the proceeds directly benefit the MAPS Foundation.
- Purpose: Fundraising for scholarships at Old Orchard Beach High School.
- Beneficiaries: Scholarships awarded by the MAPS Scholarship Foundation.
- Funds: 100% of the proceeds benefit the MAPS Foundation.
- 2025 Achievement: Sixteen $1000 scholarships granted.
🏁 Race Details
The race start location is at the corner of Walnut St. & Milliken St. in front of the public parking lot. The course follows Milliken St. and West Grand Avenues to Ocean Park and back to the finish at The Brunswick. The course is mostly flat and fast. PR's Very Possible!! Join us at The Brunswick on the beach for a post-race continental breakfast and awards ceremony!

Race T-Shirt for first 300 runners registered.
- Closing Date: Registration closes on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
- Race Day: No race day registrations.
- Packet Pick-Up: Pre-race on Friday, August 14, 2026, 4:00-6:00 pm at Milliken Mills parking lot.
- Race Day Pick-Up: Begins at 6:00 am at Milliken Mills parking lot.
