Our Cause

• What is SCAD: Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little-known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack.
• Affected Population: Most patients are young, healthy, and active women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease.
• Fatality Risk: SCAD can reoccur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.
• Statistics: SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, including pregnant women and new moms.

SCADaddle Details

• Event Type: Timed 5K run/walk at South Park - Edgebrook Field.
• Awards: Top three overall male and female, plus top male and female in various age categories.
• Encouragement: All participants are encouraged to run or walk at their own pace.
• Registration: Register by September 1, 2026, to guarantee this year's t-shirt.
