Event Overview
The Alabama Nature Center (ANC) will host the Critter Crawl 5K and Yeti Dash on February 21st, 2026! This 5K trail run is like no other! The Critter Crawl is a TRAIL RUN benefiting the ANC education programs that takes runners through a portion of the ANC's 5 mile trail system.
Yeti Dash
- Costume Requirement: Nature/critter costumes are mandatory for any guests who wish to participate in the Yeti Dash.
- Medals: Any guests who do not dress in costume will not be eligible to win a Yeti Dash medal. One medal will be awarded to the first place finisher in each age group category.
- Race Challenge: This is an all-out race to beat the Yeti, can you survive?
Registration Details
- Shirts: Shirts are guaranteed for participants registering before January 31, 2026. Extras will be ordered but run out fast.
- Fees:
- Critter Crawl 5k Day of fee: $30
- ANC Yeti Dash Day of fee: $25
Event Schedule
- Date: Saturday, February 21st
- 7:30 am: Registration Station open for packet pickup
- 8:30 am: Critter Crawl 5k Race Start
- 9:30 am: Yeti Dash Start
- 10:30 am (tentative): Trophy Ceremony
Post-Race Activities
In addition to the races, there will be music, food, and vendors! Be sure to hang around after the race for a door prize give away and trophy ceremony! We will have music and food for everyone, and lots of room for kids to play. Make sure to wear warm athletic clothes since it will likely be cold. Parking will be in the pavilion meadow. While you are here be on the lookout for the elusive Yeti, you might even be able to snag a picture with him!
Packet Pickup
Participants may pick up their race packets on Friday, February 20th from 1 pm-5 pm. The course will be open that afternoon for individuals who want to see the course prior to the race.
Pet Policy
Although we cherish our furry friends, the Alabama Nature Center has a NO pet policy at this time. We ask that you leave your pets at home for this race. This excludes service aid dogs.
About the Organizer
The Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) is the oldest and largest non-profit conservation organization in Alabama. The AWF was established by sportsmen in 1935 to promote the conservation and wise use of our wildlife and natural resources and to ensure a high quality of life for future generations of Alabamians. AWF headquarters is located at Lanark in Millbrook, Alabama. Lanark contains five distinct destinations: AWF Headquarters, Historic Lanark, Lanark Pavilion, the Alabama Nature Center, and the NaturePlex.
