San Diego 5K SCADaddle for Research

🏃‍♀️ OUR CAUSE

• Definition: Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a little-known and poorly understood cause of a heart attack.
• Demographics: Most patients are young, healthy, and active women who do not have the typical risk factors of heart disease. Although less common, it can affect men too.
• Risk: SCAD can reoccur and can be fatal. Research is needed to identify the cause(s) and the best treatment options.
• Statistics: SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women & new moms.

🏅 SCADaddle

• Event: Our timed 5K run/walk takes place on the east side of Crown Point Park in San Diego on Mission Bay.
• Course: Enjoy the course along the bay on the bay side walkway.
• Awards: Awards will be given to the overall winner male and female. Medals/recognition will be given to 2nd and 3rd place males/females overall and to the top three males/females for various age groups.
• Registration: Register by August 17, 2025, to guarantee this year's t-shirt.

🎉 Post-Race Festivities

• Refreshments: Relax after the 5K and enjoy refreshments.
• Activities: Face painting will be available.
• Fun: There will be fun for all while supporting a great cause - research!
