Share The Road, Remembering Raymond Butler 5K

🏃‍♂️ Event Overview

We will host our 4th annual 5k run/walk race, “Share The Road, Remembering Raymond Butler” on May 30, 2026 in Eclectic, AL. Race starts promptly at 7:45 a.m. cst. Start/Finish in Front of Elmore County High School.

🚴‍♂️ About Raymond Butler

• Background: Raymond was an avid cyclist, runner, canoeist, and overall athlete even at 74 years of age.
• Tragic Incident: He was riding his bike home from work on August 29, 2022 when 3/10 of a mile from his home he was struck by a car and succumbed to his massive internal injuries the next day.

🚧 Awareness Campaign

Come help us remember Raymond and raise awareness that our roads are meant to be shared. Cyclists have the same legal right as a vehicle to use the roadway therefore drivers need to watch for them and pass with care. Proceeds from the event will once again be used to purchase Share The Road signs to be added to the twenty five signs that were purchased with funds from our previous races.

Overall male/female finishers AND 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male/female finishers in each group:

• Age Groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+

💰 Registration Details

5k entrance fee is $30, which includes a Share The Road T-shirt. Shirts are guaranteed to those who register no later than May 22, 2025. You can sign up at RunSignUp.com.
