Dirty South Trail Races

DIRTY SOUTH TRAIL HALF MARATHON, TRAIL 10K, and KIDS TRAIL MILE

TIME & PLACE

• Start Times: Half Marathon and 10K start at 9:00 am.
• Kids Trail Mile: Race starts at 8:30 am. Note, this kids mile is separate from the seven race series.
• Location: Starts/finishes at Mead's Quarry, just south of Ijams Nature Center on Island Home Avenue, Knoxville TN 37920.

• Carpool: Help reduce environmental impact by carpooling with friends.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

• Distance: 13.1 mile course traverses diverse landscapes.
• Terrain: A mix of rocky, technical single track and flowing mountain bike trail.
• Time Limit: Course has a 4 hour time limit.
• Kids Course: Kids will run their own trail mile in the woods.

• Map: Find directions to Mead's Quarry near Ijams Nature Center.

• Policy: No refunds and no bib transfers.
• KTC Member Discount: Discount available for KTC members.

T-SHIRTS

• Design: Special tech shirt guaranteed to love!
• Shirt Availability: Anyone registering after November 12 will receive a shirt only while supplies last.
• Order Cutoff: Shirt order will be placed on November 12, inventory runs out, no more shirts will be available.

TTT SERIES AWARDS

• Awards: Top 3 in each division will receive free race entries.
• Eligibility: Must be a KTC member and volunteer two times during the season.
• Announcement: Winners will be announced at the KTC Holiday Party in December.

RESULTS

• Availability: Results will be available on the Knoxville Track Club website: www.ktc.org.
• Additional Posting: Results also published on Runsignup.com.

COURSE ETIQUETTE

• Disqualification: Right reserved to disqualify unsportsmanlike conduct.
• Prohibited Items: No headsets, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades or pets on the course.

SAFETY

• Hydration: Aid and water stations provided, but runners urged to carry their own water.
• Pre-Race Training: Recommended to train off-road.
• Insect Precautions: Carry own medication if sensitive to insect stings or bites.

SAFETY POLICY CLARIFICATION

• Age Requirement: Runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Pace Limit: Enforcing 18:00/mile minimum pace to ensure volunteer safety.
• Race Sweeper: Each race will have a sweeper: be aware of pace.

DON'T TAKE A BIB IF YOU'RE NOT RUNNING

• Safety Concern: Taking a bib means you are running: if you don't finish, we must locate you.
• Dropout Protocol: Let race officials know if you drop out.
• Care for Bib: Do not crunch, fold, or tear the bib: it is essential for time recording.
