Dirty South Trail Races

DIRTY SOUTH TRAIL HALF MARATHON, TRAIL 10K, and KIDS TRAIL MILE

TIME & PLACE

• Half Marathon & 10K: Start at 9:00 am.
• Kids Trail Mile: Race starts at 8:30 am.
• Location: Starts/finishes at Mead's Quarry, just south of Ijams Nature Center on Island Home Avenue, Knoxville TN 37920.
• Note: This kids mile is separate from the seven race series.

SUSTAINABILITY

• Carpool: Link up with friends and carpool if possible (names list is public).
• Public Transit: Mead's Quarry has a stop on the Knoxville Area Transit Line 40. Check out their site.
• App: Download their app for convenience.
• Bike & Ride Option: Utilize bike and ride options available at the quarry.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

• Half Marathon: 13.1 mile course traverses the Forks of the River Wildlife Area, William Hastie Park, and more.
• 10k Course: Utilizes main nature center trails and those in Meads Quarry.
• Kids Trail Mile: Kids will run their own trail mile in the woods.
• Time Limit: Course has a 4 hour time limit.

REGISTRATION FEES

• No Refunds: No refunds and no bib transfers.
• KTC Member Discount: Accepted for registration.
• Non-Members: Sign up for KTC membership here.
• Shirt Availability: Shirts guaranteed to those who register before a certain date while supplies last.

T-SHIRTS

• Special Tech Shirt: Different from the series shirts.
• Shirt Limit: Orders will be placed on a fixed date, no re-orders.
• Donations: Unpicked shirts will be donated.
• No Holds: Shirts will not be held or mailed to participants.

TTT SERIES AWARDS

• Top 3 Awards: Free race entries for the top 3 in each division.
• Award Announcement: Winners will be announced at the KTC Holiday Party in December.
• Membership Requirement: Must be a member of KTC and have volunteered two times.

RESULTS

• Availability: Results will be available on the Knoxville Track Club website and on Runsignup.com.

COURSE ETIQUETTE

• Disqualification: Right to disqualify anyone who exhibits unsportsmanlike conduct.
• No Equipment: No headsets, bicycles, or pets allowed on the course.

SAFETY

• Water Stations: Aid and water stations will be provided, but runners should carry their own water.
• Insect Medication: Runners are urged to carry their own medication for insect stings.
• Offroad Training: Recommended for a good experience.

SAFETY POLICY CLARIFICATION

• Under 12 Policy: Must be accompanied by an adult to run the adult race.
• Pace Requirement: 18:00/mile minimum pace enforced.

BIB POLICY

• No Bib for Non-Participants: Participants must not take a bib if they are not running.
• Drop Out Protocol: Notify race officials if you must drop out.

• Inclement Weather Policy: Weather will be monitored prior to the event.
• Communication: Athletes informed through multiple communication channels.
• Event Management: Right to delay or cancel due to weather conditions.
