🏃‍♂️ Haw Ridge Eight Mile Trail Race and Kids Trail Mile

📅 DATE TIME PLACE

Date: Saturday morning, July 12, 2025
Time: 8:00 am
Location: Starts/finishes at the Haw Ridge Life Development Center on Old Edgemoor Drive near Oak Ridge TN.

🏞️ COURSE DESCRIPTION

Distance: This 8 mile course will do some climbing early and offer good flow the balance of the run through Haw Ridge Park.
Scenery: Quite a bit of the course runs along the lake.
Finish: The course will return to the finish line.

👦 KIDS TRAIL RUN

Distance: Course will be almost all on trail, almost exactly a mile.
Fun: Way more than a mile's worth of fun!
Feedback: As those who ran it last year can attest, it’s a really, really good course.

💵 RACE ENTRY FEES

Preregistration: $25, KTC discount valid.
Students: 14 and under $15 anytime.

Kids Trail Mile: $7 anytime.

Late registration: $30. Online registration available at Runsignup.com

👕 T-SHIRTS

Design: Special limited edition T-shirts will be printed for the series.

Distribution: One shirt per runner PER SEASON please.

Charity: Taking multiple shirts minimizes monies we are able to donate to trail-friendly causes.

🏆 TTT SERIES AWARDS

Awards: The top 3 in each division will receive free race entries.

Entries: 1st gets the full monty, all 12 races, 2nd gets the 9 race series, and 3rd gets entry into 6 races.

Drawing: Two lucky runners will get a pair of shoes.

Eligibility: Must be a member of KTC and have volunteered two times during the trail race season.

Availability: Results will be available on Runsignup.

🚦 COURSE ETIQUETTE

Disqualification: We reserve the right to disqualify anyone who exhibits unsportsmanlike conduct or is abusive to volunteers.

Restrictions: No headsets, earphones, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades or pets on the course.

🛡️ SAFETY

Aid Station: One aid station will be set up roughly halfway through the race at a lakeside picnic table.

Hydration: Limited supply of very small cups: urge to carry your own hydration container.

Precautions: Strongly recommend carrying medication for insect stings or bites.

Training: Do some pre-race training offroad, as no substitute for experience.

🔒 SAFETY POLICY CLARIFICATION

Adult Accompaniment: Runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult to run the adult race.

Pace Requirement: Enforce the 18:00/mile minimum pace.

Race Sweeper: Each race will have a sweeper to ensure pace requirement is met.

📋 DON'T TAKE A BIB IF YOU'RE NOT RUNNING

Safety Concern: We want to ensure everyone who starts stays safe.

Transparency: Let race officials know if you drop out of the race.

Bib Integrity: Don't crunch, fold, or tear off the bottom of the bib.
