Haw Ridge Eight Mile Trail Race and Kids Trail Mile

TIME & PLACE:

• Race Start: 8M race starts at 8:00 am.
• KIDS RACE: Starts at 7:30 am.
• Location: Starts/finishes at 299 Old Edgemoor Drive near Oak Ridge TN.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

• Distance: This is an 8 mile course.
• Terrain: There will be some climbing early on.
• Experience: Offers good flow for the balance of the run through Haw Ridge Park.
• Scenic Route: A substantial portion is along the lake before returning to the finish line.

KIDS TRAIL RUN:

• Course Length: Almost exactly a mile.
• Fun Factor: More than a mile's worth of fun!
• Past Feedback: Those who ran it last year can attest to its quality.

REGISTRATION AND FEES:

• Refund Policy: No refunds and no bib transfers.
• Discount: KTC member discount accepted.

T-SHIRTS:

TTT SERIES AWARDS:

• Free Entries: Top 3 in each division will receive free race entries.
• Shoe Draw: Two lucky runners will get a pair of shoes, thanks to Runners Market.
• Awards Ceremony: Awards will be presented at the annual KTC Holiday Party in December.
• Eligibility: Being a KTC member and volunteering two times during the season is required to qualify for series awards.

RESULTS:

• Availability: Results will be available on this RunSignup page at the Results link.

COURSE ETIQUETTE:

• Disqualification: We reserve the right to disqualify anyone exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct.
• Restrictions: No headsets, earphones, bicycles, baby strollers, roller blades, or pets on the course.

SAFETY:

• Aid Station: One aid station will be set up roughly halfway through the race.
• Hydration: Limited supply of very small cups: carry your own hydration container.
• Medication: Strongly recommend carrying personal medication for insect stings or bites.
• Training: Do some pre-race training off-road for a better experience.

SAFETY POLICY CLARIFICATION:

• Age Requirement: Runners under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in the adult race.
• Pace Policy: Minimum pace of 18:00/mile will be enforced.
• Race Sweeper: Each race will have a sweeper for pace enforcement.

DON'T TAKE A BIB IF YOU'RE NOT RUNNING:

• Safety Concern: Taking a bib means you're running the race: do not take it if you are not.
• Drop Out: If you drop out of the race, inform a race official so you can be accounted for.
• Proper Care: Do not crunch or fold the bib: it needs to be unspoiled to record your time.
