Oil Creek 5 & 13 Stacked Trail Races

This unique trail race starts and finishes at Drake Well Museum and Park in Titusville, PA utilizing the Gerard Hiking Trail in Oil Creek State Park.

All proceeds from the event benefit Friends of Drake Well, Inc., the non-profit organization which partners with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission in the administration of Drake Well Museum and Park. Learn more here

🏅 Race Details

The 5 and 13 mile “Stacked” Trail Races offer runners an exciting twist in racing: the “Stack”.

• Race Start Times: Stacked 90 minutes apart, with the 5 miler starting first.
• Finisher’s Awards: Available for each race distance.
• Additional Awards: For completing both races with the quickest stacked finish time.
• Cutoff Time: Strict 90 minute cutoff for 5 mile runners attempting both distances.

💲 Race Fees

• 5 mile Race: $50 until March 16th, $55 until April 13th, $65 on race day. (Must be age 13 by race day)
• 13 mile Race: $60 until March 16th, $65 until April 13th, $75 on race day. (Must be age 16 by race day)
• Stacked Race (5 + 13): $105 until March 16th, $110 until April 13th, $120 on race day. (Must be age 16 by race day)
• Shirts: Race T-shirts are included with registration, featuring a unique design on soft tri-blend shirts.

📅 Packet Pickup

• 5 miler &: Both Races: Check-in at 6:00-6:45 am on May 17th, 2025 at Drake Well Museum parking lot.
• 13 miler: Check-in is between 7:00-8:15 am on Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at Drake Well Museum parking lot.
• Pre-race Pickup: Optional on Friday, May 16th from 5-8 at Titusville Ironworks Taphouse.
• Race Bib &: T-shirt: Included during pre-race pickup: no need to check in again on race morning.

⏰ Start Times

• 5 mile race: Starts at 7:00 am.
• 13 mile race: Starts at 8:30 am.
• Finish Time: All races must be completed by 1:30 pm: course closes.

🏆 Awards

• Finishers Award: All participants receive an embroidered performance sock.
• Dual Finishers Award: Additional award for completing both races within the cutoff.
• Top Finishers: Unique awards for top male and female in 5 mile and 13 mile races.
• Cash Prize: $50 for top male and female winners of the stacked race.

🍽️ Post Race

Post race refreshments and food will be provided to all participants.

• 5 Hour Time Limit: For each individual race.
• Shirt Guarantee: Register by April 13th, 2025.
• No Refunds: Proceeds benefit Friends of Drake Well Non-profit.

🗺️ Course Information

Course Map with Aid Stations

The 5-mile race starts at the Jersey Bridge (Museum side) where runners will cross the bridge and then proceed onto the Gerard Hiking Trail in Oil Creek State Park. The course follows the trail, eventually turning off toward Boughton Bridge and following that trail until reconnecting with the Gerard Trail along the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad tracks. The course then follows Museum Lane to the finish line in the main parking area of Drake Well Museum and Park. The 13-mile race begins in the main parking area of Drake Well Museum, continuing through the grounds of the Museum's park then traveling up the dike alongside Oil Creek where it meets the Jersey Bridge. From there it follows the same course as the 5-mile, but instead of turning off at Boughton, the 13-mile course continues along the Gerard Hiking Trail until Miller Farm where it crosses the Oil Creek State Park recreational trail and goes across Miller Farm Bridge. The course continues along a small trail until it reconnects with the Gerard Trail, following that trail back up to Drake Well, eventually running alongside the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad tracks. Similar to the 5-mile, the course then follows Museum Lane back to the finish line in the main parking area of the museum.
