Event Overview

Grab your favorite pair of sneakers and join us at our 5th Annual Be A Blessing 5K & 1M Fun Run, a community-wide, family friendly event. Proceeds from the Be A Blessing 5K & 1M Fun Run go toward purchasing food for over 2000 NAFCS preK - 8th grade children in need on the weekends, when school meal programs are unavailable. Race with your family, your friends, or your co-workers and together, we can serve hungry children in our community one step at a time.

• Course: Paved path around the lake at Sam Peden Community Park
• Registration: Walk, jog, run, or stroll at your own pace

Participant Benefits

Each participant in the Be A Blessing 5K & 1M Fun Run will receive a finisher's medal and an Official Be A Blessing Race Shirt (while supplies last). To guarantee your shirt size, you must be registered by Wednesday, October 8th.

About Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County

Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County is an initiative of New Albany Floyd County Education Foundation dedicated to alleviating childhood hunger in Floyd County, Indiana. Just under 1 in 6 Floyd County children face food insecurity. When school dismisses on Friday, 38% of NAFCS pre-k through 8th grade students would leave their classroom unsure of whether they will have enough to eat until school starts again next Monday, if not for the work of Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County. Through donations from local individuals and companies, they ensure that students in need don’t go hungry over the weekend and can return to school ready to learn.

Awards

• Finisher Medals: Awarded to all participants (while supplies last).
• Top Individual Fundraiser: Wins an award for raising the most funds.
• Largest Team Award: Given to the team with the most registered members.
• Registration: Teams must register prior to race day.

Race Day Information

• Packet Pick-Up: Available at registration booth starting 7:30 AM.
• On-Site Registration: Cash or check only, with prices of $40 for adults and $20 for kids under 18.
• Shirts: Available while supplies last.
• Registration: Can be completed the morning of the race.

Photo Release

By registering & participating in the Be A Blessing 5K & 1M Fun Run, you consent to photographs/videos of you being used for promotional purposes by Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

A little rain won’t stop us! We will only delay for lightning. If the in-person race is canceled due to severe weather, an announcement will be made via Facebook. All registered participants will automatically become virtual runners and we will set a date for you to pick up your medal.
