The 14th annual Boxer Brief 5K Run/Walk brings together colorectal cancer survivors, patients, family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues to energize efforts to prevent and defeat our country's number one cancer killer in men under age 50 and the nation's second cancer killer in men and women combined. Colorectal cancer is a preventable and beatable. The proceeds support the work of Hitting Cancer Below the Belt to continue their screening and educational services.
Join us at City Stadium, Home of the Richmond Kickers, or in your own neighborhood! There is a GLOBAL Virtual Challenge option for those living outside of Richmond, Virginia or for those interested in an entire weekend challenge. The goal of the virtual challenge option is to accumulate miles as participants participate in various activities. The miles accumulated can be achieved through the following activities: Walk, Run, Ride, Swim, Paddle, or even Dink! Yep! Collect those miles as you participate in multiple activities throughout the weekend of June 7th - June 8th! This is the perfect option for paddleball players, triathletes, the runner who also likes to hike, our swimmer friends, and for those rowing and paddling on the water. No need to record a time, we just need your miles and your awesome photos!
New this year is the Stroller Division! Hey fast moms and dads - we see you. It's time you have a division all your own. If you are pushing a small child and want to participate in the Stroller Division, make sure to register for that event.
The DIAPER DASH returns. The competition for our littlest athletes will make you cheer and chuckle. Enter your child under the age of one for the Dash competition. Your child will compete on the professional Richmond Kicker's soccer field along the signature Dash mat-track prior to the 5K start. All little participants will "race" by crawling four yards towards the glory of winning their first race! There is NO charge for the Dash: however, we do ask for a small donation if you feel moved. The Diaper Dash begins at 8:00 AM.
The Toddler Trot returns. We cannot ignore the children ages one and two. The toddlers will race 20 yards down the field along the professional soccer field (weather permitting) towards the finish line. Fans will cheer them on as they participate in their first running competition. There is NO charge for the Trot: however, we do ask for a small donation if you feel moved. The Toddler Trot will begin immediately after the Diaper Dash at 8:00 AM.
The popular Caped Colon Crusader kid's sprint begins the fun! At the live event prior to the 5K, the children under the age of six have the opportunity to participate in the Caped Colon Crusader sprint. Children age of six and under are encouraged to wear their favorite cape and show how fierce and fast they are as they sprint towards the finish line. There is NO charge for the sprint: however, we do ask for a small donation if you feel moved. The Caped Colon Crusader begins at 7:45 AM.
Music, costumes, games, and prizes creates a high energy morning! Awards will be given to the overall fastest man and woman along with the top age group males and females. The top male and female in the Stroller Division will also be awarded. Team Awards are offered for Best Team Costume, Largest Social Team, Largest Corporate Team and the Top Fundraising Team which highlights the tremendous team passion along the course. We are rewarding participants who share their special URL code and bring FIVE or more additional participants to the event with a $20 refund. Locate your special URL code on the email confirmation you receive after registering. We appreciate the referrals which we know saves lives!
