Event Overview

This year, we’re honored to be hosting the 2nd Annual Cathy Nielsen Walk & Talk. Cathy, the beloved sister of our founder, was a fierce supporter of Wings of Hope and our mission. Though she passed away after her own battle with cancer, her spirit of walking, connection, and community lives on through this event.

Purpose of the Event

• Proceeds: All of the proceeds from this event go right back into our organization allowing us to continue to provide free support to cancer patients and their families right here in our community.
• Routes: Choose from 1-mile or 3-mile routes.
• Morning Activity: It's the perfect way to spend a morning with family and friends while helping those on the cancer journey in our communities.
• Pets: Pets welcome!

Event Details

Registration is from 9:00 to 9:30am, followed by the walks.

Event Theme

Our 2026 theme, Butterflies, represents transformation, resilience, hope, and new beginnings—beautiful reminders that healing often takes many forms and that even through life's greatest challenges, growth is possible.

Morning Activities

• Scenic Walk: A scenic walk across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
• Food: Fresh breakfast pastries and treats available for purchase from Breeze Bakery.
• Coffee: Specialty coffee from a local coffee truck.
• Activities: Face painting for children, sidewalk chalk activities, games, and music from a live DJ.

Community Connection

Opportunities to connect with Wings of Hope and learn about the free programs available to local cancer patients and their families.

• Age 13+: $40
• Age 6-12: $20
• Age 0-5: $10
