About the Race

Sign up to receive our Ugly Sweater 5K sweater and lace up your running shoes for the Ugly Sweater 5K, a fun run benefiting Feeding America (virtual runners) and local food banks (local in-person runners)! 

• Current Issues: Rising food prices are exacerbating hunger across America.
• Statistics: 44 million people are living in food insecure households in the U.S. as of 2022.
• Increase: This marks a more than 30% increase for all individuals and 40% for children compared to the previous year.
• Report Source: Based on USDA 2023 report and Greater Lansing Food Bank 2023 Annual Report.

Participation Options

Join runners, walkers, and festive fitness lovers across the country as we come together to fight hunger—one stride at a time.

• Register: Choose between in-person and virtual options.
• Packet Pickup: Virtual runners can opt for shipping or in-person pickup at Playmakers.
• Race Your Way: Complete the 5K at your own pace, anywhere.
• Reporting: Virtual runners must submit their times by December 5th at 12 PM.

Swag and Refreshments

• Swag: Receive a Cable Knit Ugly Sweater, finisher medal, and custom event bib.
• Refreshments: Hot coffee, cocoa, and cookies will be available at the finish line!
• Fundraising: Start a fundraiser during registration: raise $200 and get a refund on registration!
• Special Prizes: The best ugly sweater photos will be featured, and top fundraisers will win prizes!
