Gleaners Hunger Free Summer Race

Event Overview

Gleaners Community Food Bank is excited to announce the 2nd annual Hunger Free Summer 5K Run and Walk! With the support of our incredible community, Gleaners continues to work toward our mission of creating a food-secure Southeast Michigan.

Purpose

• Campaign Goal: When school is out, many children lose access to the meals they rely on, but the Hunger Free Summer campaign helps bridge that gap.
• Meal Impact: Gleaners can provide 3 meals for every dollar donated.
• Matching Donations: Thanks to a match from Citizens and other generous donors, for every dollar raised through run registrations or donations, Gleaners can provide six meals to families facing hunger.
• Community Involvement: Please join us as we race toward a food-secure community on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Freedom River in Brighton, Michigan.

Pricing

• 5k run/walk: Early registration including shirt $30 until 6/07, then $35 with limited shirt sizes available. $40 on race day with no shirt.
• 1 mile fun run/walk: Early registration including shirt $25 until 6/07, then $30 with limited shirt sizes available. $35 on race day with no shirt. (please note the 1 mile run/walk is an untimed event)

Awards

• Overall Awards: Running Lab gift certificates to the Overall Male and Female finishers and Overall Master Male and Female Winners.
• Age Group Awards: Awards to the top 3 in age groups (male and female) 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

• Race Day Packet Pickup: June 20 | 7:00 AM, Race Location - Freedom River | 6716 Winans Lake Rd. Brighton, MI 48116

Parking

• Onsite Parking: Plenty of onsite parking available.

Course Details

• Course Type: Cross country type course including trails, fields, pavement with slight hills.
• Timing: Race is chip-timed.

Team Awards

• Awards Given: Award for the Largest Team, the Most Spirited Team, and the Largest Fundraising Team.

Results

• Timing Service: The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.
• Result Availability: Results are live during the event and posted on this website.
